Using dCal
dCal is Duke's group scheduling and calendar server, based on Oracle Calendar®.
dCal allows you to:
- Manage meetings, events, tasks, and contacts
- Schedule individuals, groups, and resources
- Designate others to manage your schedule
You can access dCal from your desktop or via the Web. dCal is centrally maintained by the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
All Linux desktops in DSS running CentOS5 have the Oracle Calendar Client already installed. You can start the client by running /usr/bin/ocal on the command line, or by looking in the menus under Office for Oracle Calendar Client.
If you have a Windows computer managed by DSS, you can have the Oracle
Calendar Client installed by sending a request to help@stat.duke.edu asking for it. The
client installs itself under Oracle Calendar Client in the start
menu. Client software for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and Solaris (as well as
software for synchronizing some PDAs) is also available for downloading (free
to Duke students faculty and staff, after registration and authentication)
from the OIT dCal page (click on 'Order Form').

- Go to Using server-based authentication in dCal and follow the directions to configure access to your online account.
This will get you started with using dCal. Further support can be found at dCal Support.
